Hartlepool 16th December 1914

This year marks one hundred years since the bombing raid by the German Navy on Hartlepool, Whitby & Scarborough.

Hartlepool’s Heugh Gun Battery remains today as a world war 1 battlefield site and will be an important location for some young people planning on taking part in a WW1 project examining the social history surrounding the bombardment and subsequent effect it had on the town.

In preparation for consultation and participation with some of the young people in Hartlepool a visit to Teesside Archives  recently unearthed some inspirational material.
